Bomb Shelter Radio comes to the National Mall to cover the Stewart/Colbert Rally. BSR is an equal opportunity internet radio station, we promote SANITY and FEAR. Stop by and say hello during the broadcast!

Broadcast Time
updated 11:00 Friday

10:30AM to 3:30PM US Eastern Time. The chat room will be open and we will be using the standard server (details in the left sidebar). It is likely we will be broadcasting at a lower rate and in mono because of bandwidth concerns.

Google Latitude

updated 11:00 Friday

An alternate way for finding us is using
Google Latitude from a GPS enabled device. Contact Illya@bomb-shelter-radio.com to join in.

Note 1: We will be using my regular Google account for Latitude, so expect a connection from JOHN (something) MCMAHON (something) at google.com.

Note 2: To preserve my privacy and yours, I will turn it off on Sunday.

Thanks to Sasquatch for the idea.
(A Google Gadget To Access Google Latitude Was REDACTED)
No Show On Thursday
updated 14:15 Thursday

BSR will not broadcast tonight as scheduled. We are getting ready for the Rally and attending TRON Night.

Road Closures
updated 11:00 Friday

Our thanks to TBD.COM for publishing the road closure data that the US Park Police provided. Be safe! Be sane!

Yet Another Handy Google Map showing the road closures (6AM-4PM on 10/30/10) related to the Rally to Restore Sanity.

Update: Be flexible if you are driving. Some media outlets have reported additional road closures beyond what is shown on the map. If you are driving you probably want to hit a garage a few blocks away from the mall since street parking can be tricky.

Map Point
updated 11:00 Friday

Handy Google Map

The National Mall is a big place. After some thought, we decided to pick a "map point" (those of you who attend raves, stop giggling) which people can find easily. We should be setting up near there, but if you have trouble you can text or call Illya at (REDACTED MY CELL PHONE NUMBER) and someone will come get you. Text will likely work better.

Finding the map point
  1. Start at the intersection of Jefferson Drive and 4th Street SW. Specifically, stand on the south east corner next to the National Museum of the American Indian.
  2. With the museum behind you and to the right, walk north along 4th Street SW. You will pass trees on the right hand side. Stop when you reach the intersection of gravel paths. There is a lamppost here.
  3. Turn right towards The Capitol. Walk until you reach another lamppost.
  4. We should be set up somewhere in this area. If you get lost, call us!
You may find that printing this map out will help you find us.

Update: A few local media reports indicate that the entrance for the rally will only be on 7th St. We also have concerns that the area we have chosen may be a VIP area. We aren't going to move the map point at this time (since the information is as clear as mud) but if we have to abandon this plan we will stay on the south side of the rally area. If you have Google Latitude you should use it (see above). Also make sure you have my number (see above).

Metro
updated 11:00 Friday

The closest Metro station is Federal Center SW which is at 3rd and D street SW on the Blue/Orange line. It is marked on this map.

Update: If it becomes clear the rally can only be entered at 7th street, you should use the L'Enfant Plaza Metro Station. You will find the 7th and Maryland Avenue exit to be the most useful. Archives/Navy Memorial/Penn Quarter is a good alternate. Smithsonian station is almost always a bad choice due to crowding and distance from the rally.

Weather
updated 12:30PM Tuesday

Use the zip code 20024 at your favorite weather web site to get information. Currently the prediction is partly cloudy skies in the low 60's.
